Ohavi Zedek Synagogue is pleased to invite the community to a presentation by Imam Abdullah Antepli and Yossi Klein Halevi, two esteemed scholars actively engaged in working for peace in the Middle East.
"Across the Abyss: How a Former Anti-Semite and a Former Jewish Extremist Are Changing the Muslim-Jewish Relationship"
Sunday, April 22nd, 2pm
Ohavi Zedek Synagogue, 188 No. Prospect St.
Burlington
Growing up in Turkey, Imam Abdullah Antepli saw Jews as evil and read the classic anti-Semitic work, The Protocols of the Elders of Zion. Growing up in Brooklyn, Yossi Klein Halevi was attracted to the militant politics of the Jewish far-right. Today, Abdullah heads Muslim Affairs at Duke University, while Yossi is a senior fellow at the Shalom Hartman Institute.
Together they run a revolutionary program, the Muslim Leadership Initiative, that is changing the way Muslims and Jews understand and relate to each other.
This event is free and open to the public.
