Newport Winter Festival, Saturday Feb. 1

Chase off those frost bite blues as we celebrate all things winter in the North Country! It’s one last chance to revel in cool Vermont traditions like snowmobiling, ice skating, broomball, pond hockey, bonfires and of course, SUGAR ON SNOW! Don’t miss the hysterical pizza gobbling contest sponsored by Hoagies and the ice structure in Gardner Park! As the night winds down, we'll light the bonfire and admire the glow of the bay beneath the the fireworks display over a frozen Memphremagog. It's all happening this Saturday in Newport!

SCHEDULE:
ALL-DAY: Shop Newport with an exclusive 10% WinterFest Coupon for area businesses! Pick one up at any event sight or the North Country Chamber of Commerce.
7:00-10:00AM: Pancake Breakfast at the Gateway Center to benefit Youth Basketball. $7 a plate includes pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice.
9:00AM Registration begins for Fire & Ice snowmobile radar runs at The Eastside Restaurant. Hosted by The Newport Daily Express.
9:00AM Kingdom Games Pond Hockey Tournament & Nordic Skating Jamboree begins at Prouty Beach. Nordic Skates can be rented at The Great Outdoors, come check out the skating trail on Lake Memphremagog! http://skatethekingdom.com/
10:00AM Annual Guy Fortin Co-ed Broomball tournament begins at Gardner Park
11:00AM Snowmobile ride-in, exhibition and radar runs begin at the East Side Restaurant
12:00PM Kids' Winter Carnival at the Gateway to benefit Gardner Park Restoration Project. $5 Admission to play games, win prizes and make crafts.
12:00PM Free ice skating and rentals at Gardner Park.
4:30PM Family activities begin at Gardner Park! Come check out the ice structures and enjoy free Sugar on Snow!
5:00PM Chuck-a-Puck Fundraiser
5:30PM Hoagies Pizza Eating Contest at Gardner Park
6:30PM Skating races and bonfire begin at Gardner Park
