Meet an American Kestrel and Create a Cozy Cavity for them to nest in

Past event
Feb 8, 2014, 1 to 4 PM

Friends of the Hort Farm Workshop - Terry Cecchini and Craig Newman from Outreach For Earth Stewardship will introduce us to a live American Kestrel, Vermont’s smallest member of the falcon family, and talk to us about their natural history. These beneficial predators are a welcome addition to any non-lawn open habitat with places to perch and cavities to nest in. We will also have an option to build a nest box. You can donate your box to provide cavities for Kestrels at the Hort Farm, or bring it home if you are lucky enough to have appropriate habitat. Or, come and enjoy the program and simply pick up a set of plans to build a box at home. $30/$40 includes nest box materials. Register by emailing to info@friendsofthehortfarm.org.
