COMMUNITY COMPOSTING WORKSHOP, Saturday, April 21, 9 am - 3 pm - free, with presenters Natasha Duarte of Composting Association of Vermont; Libby Weiland of the Vermont Community Garden Network, and Josef Gorem, soil scientist and snake worm researcher at University of Vermont. This workshop is ideal for: people who compost food scraps, but want to take it to the next level; anyone considering a food scrap compost system for more than one family; community gardens, schools, housing sites or other organizations where multiple people or families may be adding kitchen scraps to one compost system. REPAIR CAFE, Saturday, April 28, Hardwick Elementary School; join your friends and neighbors to meet up and mend at our second Repair Cafe held in partnership with Onion River Exchange and the Center for an Agricultural Economy. Bring up to three broken items (only one repaired at a time). Repair Services will include: bicycles, sewing, mechanical, electrical, electronics, gluing, woodworking and small furniture, metal working, and painting. BACKYARD COMPOST WORKSHOP, join us at one of our six free backyard compost workshops! Learn about how to get started, or how to get a stalled system working again; learn about Vermont's Universal Recycling Law, and a variety of different ways to compost for different spaces and styles. WASTE WARRIOR TRAINING, Would you love to share your recycling and composting skills to educate the public at local events? We need YOU to help reduce waste at regional events, including: the Hardwick Spring Festival, the Montpelier BioBlitz, the Barre Heritage Festival and the Tunbridge World Fair. We have four trainings, taking place prior to each of the events listed here. Deepen your knowledge, give back to your community, and get a few perks along the way!
