Marlboro School Social Justice Discussion Group
First Meeting - Friday, April 13th, 5:30pm
The Association of Marlboro Parents (AMP) is inviting all Marlboro parents, teachers, and community members to join us in a 8-part discussion series focused on social justice in our community. With the aide of a facilitator, we will be following the "Foundations in Social Justice for Parents & Educators Course" designed by Oak Meadow. The course begins with an exploration of the principles of social justice, and includes units on racial justice, economic justice, disability justice, and gender justice, as well as touching on many related topics.
We will have a kick-off on Friday, April 13th at 5:30 p.m. at Marlboro Elementary. This first meeting will focus on setting group norms and outlining our work together. After that, we will continue to meet on the last Friday of every month. A light dinner and child care will be provided. We ask you to please RSVP with the number of adults attending as well as the number of children needing childcare on our facebook event page or by emailing WKermenski@marlboroschool.net.
You do not need to do anything in preparation for this first meeting. For the subsequent sessions, you will need to download the course for the one-time cost of $15. Financial Assistance is available.
