Ripton's 188-Year-Old Post Office

Hilda Billings, the last commissioned postmaster of the Ripton Post Office, will present a talk on the history of the institution at the heart of her community for 188 years, including some colorful episodes involving poet Robert Frost. The program will be illuminated with photographs, images, and artifacts of post office work in small, rural communities like Ripton. The event is sponsored by the Ripton Historical Society and will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, in the Ripton Community Church on route 125 in the village center.
