Ready to get started composting? OR -- would you like to get some ideas for how to re-start your old compost system? The Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District is bringing a free backyard compost workshop to the Williamstown Elementary School at 5:45 pm on Tuesday, April 24.
This workshop is filling up, so please register using our sign up form by clicking this link: http://www.cvswmd.org/program-registration.html
We'll talk about how to get started, how to keep smells and animals away; we'll review a variety of different composting systems for different situations; Vermont's Universal Recycling Law and its landfill ban on food scraps starting in 2020; and we'll provide backyard compost bins for sale at half-price ($25 each). Half-priced bins are available, one-per household to workshop attendees only, only for the day of the workshop.
We will also raffle off a Green Cone, and each workshop participant will leave with a "starter kit" kitchen counter food scrap pail and a booklet about how to compost.
