The Shelburne Historical Society (SHS) is pleased to present a talk by Daniel Bean about the "Orphan Train", Monday, April 16 at 7PM at the Town Offices, Room 1. Dan is a fellow member of the SHS and a professor emeritus from Saint Michael's College.

Dan will explain how orphans (some assigned to orphanages by their parents) were sent from states with large orphan populations to various "receiving" locations by train. The talk will focus on Vermont being one of the "receiving" states and what is known about the children who came to upper western Vermont in 1905.
