Jalaluddin Rumi, the thirteenth-century Muslim contemplative who is today one of the best-selling poets in America, considers the Qur'an a map of the self and the Qur'anic stories as containing wisdom that can lead to a life of happiness and flourishing. In this Monday's lecture, Amer Latif, a professor of religious studies at Marlboro College, will examine Rumi's understanding of the Qur'anic stories as archetypes.
