One of the most pressing issues facing towns and villages across our region is the need for quality housing for residents, and potential residents, of their communities. In some cases the challenge is the cost of housing relative to income, in others it is the type, quality, or location of housing. Throughout the region, housing plays a critical role in attracting and retaining a qualified workforce, maintaining public health, and in supporting economic development in general. There is no one solution to the need to improve housing in our region; a variety of approaches across private, public, and nonprofit sectors will be required. The BCRC will be hosting a housing forum to help local officials and interested residents understand the issues and potential responses.
