I wanted to invite you all to Vodka & Pancakes this Saturday, April 7th at Caledonia Spirits Distillery in Hardwick!
I work at at Caledonia Spirits - distillers of Barr Hill honey spirits. Recognizing that distilling begins with agriculture, we've been working on a new project we're calling Experiments in Agricultural Rectification (E.A.R.) whereby we're forming relationships with and sourcing unique ingredients from our regions farmers, foragers, and sugarers to then distill into one-of-a-kind small batch spirits.
We're launching the E.A.R. Project this weekend with our Batch 001: Vodka distilled from 100% Vermont maple syrup! We worked with Kevin Farnham of Farnham Farm Maple to tap a sugarbush on our Head Distiller Ryan's property in Plainfield. The Farnham's then gathered and boiled the sap to syrup before we fermented and distilled it - once through our pot still and 3-plate copper column and again through our 16-plate vodka column. Because the Vodka is made FROM maple syrup and not flavored with maple, it's quickly maple on the nose and then a sip reveals a vodka that is clean and crisp, traditional in flavor, and finishing with a soft and delicate sweetness.
To celebrate we're throwing a "Vodka & Pancakes" party from 9am - 2pm this Saturday, April 7th at our distillery. Please join us for FREE pancakes whipped up by Jimmy Kennedy, former chef at the late River Run, and Vermont maple syrup from Farnham Farm Maple and Runamok Maple. We'll be handing out free samples of the new Vodka and our Barr Hill honey spirits: Barr Hill Gin, Tom Cat Gin, and Barr Hill Vodka as well as giving tours of the distillery. Bottles and maple inspired cocktails will be available for sale. We're at 46 Log Yard Drive in Hardwick just off Route 15 behind Lamoille Valley Ford.
Hope to see you there!
