Artist in Residence (St Albans) Reception April 5

Past event
Apr 5, 2018, 4:30 to 7 PM

While we are transitioning from one season to the next, it is the perfect time to visit the Artist in Residence Art Gallery at 10 South Main Street in St Slbans for its monthly reception featuring five artists and their work. The reception is Thursday, April 5th from 4:30 - 7pm; light refreshments are served. I am one of the featured artists, with new work on display. See you there.

Anne Standish's roots are in sewing and quilting. Her complex and detailed Art Quilts feature representational images of real places, created with fabric, photographs printed onto fabric, threads, and paint. Anne, who is an award-winning artist, is one of April's featured artists at the Artist In Residence gallery in St-Albans, VT. The other artists featured in April are:

Mark Doremus has recently transferred his skills as a machinist, a field in which he worked until retirement, into carved wood interpretations of photographs. Using computer software and a CNC router, he "molds" three-dimensional images.

El Towle's work is eclectic in both subject matter and mediums. His forty years as an art teacher provided him with the opportunity to explore seemingly endless modes of expression. While he favors oil and acrylic painting, he enjoys departures into silk, clay, watercolor, and other materials.

Barry Genzlinger learned as a child to build things, and was taught by his grandfather to turn wood pieces on a lathe. In recent years he discovered an aptitude for making small things, first spinning tops and then small bowls, using a wide variety of woods, including reclaimed and repurposed wood. His smallest piece, to date, is a goblet that is only 1/4 inch in diameter.

Maureen Genzlinger makes decorative fiber ornaments using a variety of materials including silk ribbons, hand spun and hand dyed threads, and textured yarns. Since she began this pursuit in 979, her process has evolved to include complex wrapping techniques. In addition to single ornaments, multiple forms are combined into mobiles and beautiful display stands are created from reclaimed wood scraps.
