I was going to answer everyone individually but received so many emails of support that I want everyone to know how supportive this group is. Unfortunately, what i failed to indicate is that my car is 14 years old with 170,000 miles on it. My mechanic has said that it should last another 75K miles and it gets 30 miles per gallon so I had no intention of replacing it. As you can easily understand with this age and mileage the cost of the repairs will exceed the book value of the vehicle so it is effectively "totaled." Therefore, the if I want to keep the car the repairs will have to come out of my pocket because it will never pass inspection like this. It's a bummer. But many more emails like I've received and I might start believing in people again. LOL
