Wellness Week 2018 arrives at the Community College of Vermont's campus, bringing a host of events to inspire a stronger, healthier community.
Events are April 2- 6 featuring films, panels, free sugar maple trees, and a chance to win hazelnut for life! Open to all members of the community.
Monday, April 2, 6-7:30pm
Watch the film "Resilience: the Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope" followed by a discussion hosted by Becky Day, youth outreach coordinator for Rutland Mental Health.
Tuesday, April 3, 6-7:30pm
Health panel featuring Yvonne Biore from the Vermont Department of Health and Rutland Regional Medical Center's Dr. Cotter and Dr. Jacobs to discuss how to keep loved ones safe from common diseases, including hepatitis C, Lyme disease, and influenza.
Wednesday, April 4, 6pm
Watch the film "Inhabit — A Permaculture Perspective" followed by a discussion about the permaculture movement.*** Everyone who attends could win a lifetime supply of hazelnuts, and will go home with a sugar maple sapling! ***
Thursday April 5, 6-7:30pm
Avaloy Lanning of the NewStory Center and Rutland Police Commander Greg Sheldon host a discussion about how the region is supporting survivors of domestic violence, and the resources available to help those in need.
Friday, April 6
Wellness Walk from 8 a.m. to noon through the second floor of CCV's Rutland campus, where community members will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from local organizations about available health initiatives and classes. Groups represented will include Vermont 2-1-1, Vermont Hoarding Task Force, Rutland Homeless Prevention Center, NewStory Center, Vermont Department of Health and more. CCV will also host outdoor lawn games, weather permitting.
