"Get Your Feet Wet!" That's the title of a training program by the Vermont Center for Ecostudies for persons interested in contributing to a statewide vernal pool monitoring and conservation program. Training is being held across the state. Here in Windham County, it will be at the Hogback Mountain Conservation Area in Marlboro, VT on Saturday, April 7. The training is free, but you must sign up in advance, because space is limited to 25 people. The workshop will begin with an indoor presentation, starting at 11:00 AM at the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum, a co-sponsor of the program. The Hogback Mountain Conservation Association and the Vermont Woodlands Association are also co-sponsors. After lunch, participants will go to a documented vernal pool in the conservation area to observe experts demonstrate monitoring procedures, and to practice a bit on their own. Bring a lunch and wear clothes and boots suitable for wandering off the trails. The snow is still deep up on the mountain, but it's melting fast, so we're not sure whether or not the program will be able to go on as planned. Those who sign up will be contacted if rescheduling is necessary. To sign up, go to  https://vernalpoolmonitoring.eventbrite.com
