In a time of divisive politics and partisan bickering, our nation's founding documents and landmark speeches can offer us rare common ground. They help us understand the core values at the heart of our national experiment – what they meant then and now, and how well we practice what we preach. If you want to get past the memes and 24/7 news cycle, come to our Seminal Statements of American Values Reading and Discussion Series at the Aldrich Public Library. In this first of four sessions, we'll be discussing the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution. Texts for each session are available at the library ahead of time. Discussion led by Nat Frothingham; sponsored by the Friends of the Aldrich Library and the Vermont Humanities Council. Sessions held 3/28, 4/11, 4/25, and 5/9.
