Saturday, April 28 is NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG TAKE BACK DAY 10am-2pm

This Take Back Day happens twice a year as a reminder to Clear our your Medicine Cabinet of "Vermont's Most Dangerous Leftovers"

Teens and young adults report that misuse of drugs begins right at the family medicine cabinet—where prescription painkillers may sit long after they are needed. These are Vermont's most dangerous leftovers. Washington County Sheriff W. Samuel Hill has coordinated 6 collection sites within Washington County. These sites are staffed by local and state police and sheriff's department for people to safely, and anonymously, drop off medications.

Gather up and dispose of expired or unused drugs which should not be flushed down the toilet, washed down the drain, composted, or left around the house. Proper disposal helps avoid harming water sources, wildlife, pets, and people. It also helps to prevent theft and misuse by others.

Pills and Capsules only.

Collection Sites:
• Washington County Sheriff's Department, 10 Elm Street, Montpelier, VT
• Montpelier Police Department, 1 Pitkin Court, Montpelier, VT
• Barre City Police Department, 15 Fourth Street, Barre City, VT
• Northfield Police Department, 110 Wall Street, Northfield, VT
• Vermont State Police Middlesex, 1080 Route 2, Middlesex, VT
• Kinney Drugs, 800 US Route 302, Berlin, VT (Supported by Berlin PD)

In case you don't want to wait or can't make it on April 28th, there are year-round, permanent safe disposal drop boxes located at the Washington County Sheriff's Department, and at the Police Stations in Barre City, Barre Town, Berlin, Montpelier, and Northfield. Stop by during business hours.
