Monday is the registration deadline for this beginner's spinning class. Introduction to Spinning Yarn with Princess Van Gulden will meet on Saturdays, February 1 and 15, at The Art House on Craftsbury Common from 1:00 - 3:30 pm. The class fee is $50 + $15 materials fee, and all students take home their own drop spindles and roving made with local wool (from Bonnieview Farm).

In this beginner-level spinning workshop students will learn how to spin on drop spindles creating one- and two-ply yarns, and learning to draft, ply, and block. We will discuss other types of spinning, and the skills learned in this class will be helpful for those who are learning to spin on a wheel. Students who own wheels are encouraged to bring them and will get support with how to use them. February 1: Drafting and how to make singles yarn. February 15: Plying, blocking and yarn handling.

Winter is the perfect time for learning to spin. Make hats and sweaters to keep you warm, and be ready with your spindles come shearing time!
