Sharing an event for High Schoolers from the Peace & Justice Center:
On March 24 people across the country will take to the streets to demand that politicians protect the lives of their citizens and put stricter gun control laws into place.
The Peace & Justice Center is organizing two buses to attend the March for Our Lives in Washington DC. We will be departing on Friday, March 23, 10:00 pm from Burlington. We are looking for a Parking Lot so this part is TBA. We expect to arrive in DC at 8:00 am to take the orange line Mero from New Carrollton. You will need to bring a credit card or $7.00-ish for round trip. After the march, the buses will leave for home at 6:00 pm. We expect to arrive back in Burlington about 4:00 am Sunday morning. One bus will stop in Fair Haven if that is closer to you.
There is a bathroom on the bus. No WiFi. Most seats have outlets. We encourage you to bring food, water, a blanket and pillow, a small reading light if you plan to read, and anything else that will keep you comfortable for the trip. For the march, you will want to bring appropriate layers of clothes and good walking shoes!
Each ticket is $125. If you need a scholarship for part of that -let Wendy (wcoe@pjcvt.org or 802-863-2345 ext 8) know. We are hoping that you can do at least half so that we can help as many folks as possible. We would like for every high school student to be able to attend for free so if you are able to donate extra to make this possible it would be greatly appreciated. We are working on asking for donations to a scholarship fund.
Please be in touch with the Peace & Justice Center if you have more questions. Remember, your seat is not reserved until you pay for the ticket.
Checks can be made to PJC and mailed or delivered to 60 Lake St, Burlington, VT 05401. You can also pay by credit card by calling Wendy at the PJC at 802-863-2345 ext 8. Due to the credit card fees– we will add $3 for a total of $128.
