Welcome everybody to the Annual Vermont All Day Sacred Harp Singing. This singing will gather singers from all around Vermont, New England and further afield to unite for a joyous day of singing from the Sacred Harp. Shape Note singing is a tradition that originated in New England in the 1700's as a way of teaching church congregations to sight read music. The tradition took hold in the rural south, where it acquired its modern form. It has never died out and is now sung by communities across the world. All are welcome to participate. If you are new to shape note singing you may find additional resources at fasola.org and see video from the 2013 All Day Sing at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4o_cNEDqgY
Events will take place at
OLD LABOR HALL
46Granite St
Barre, VT
There is a limited number of parking spaces at the hall, however there is a substantial amount of parking nearby in the city parking lots (off Zanleoni Pl, near the ReStore) which are a short walk from the hall. The entrance for that lot will be signed, so if you are able to walk and aren't hauling food or supplies, please consider parking there.
