Spring Equinox & Lamb Celebration

Past event
Mar 17, 2018, 10 PM

Come to Cate Hill Orchard at 697 Shadow Lake Road, Greensboro, on Saturday March 17th at 10 am for a celebration of spring, lambs, lactating ewes, and the return of light and the sun. Although the snow is falling, spring is on the way! Join us as we recreate and reimagine ancient spring equinox rituals to honor the sun, and the animals, plants, and earth that sustain us. Participants are invited to come dressed as bears, and to bring bells, whistles or other noisemakers. We will process around the house and barn, sing songs to the lambs, and burn an effigy of the sun. At 10 am we will teach a few spring song to be sung at the ritual; the procession will begin at 11 am. Blini—Russian sourdough pancakes, yellow and round like the sun and served with our own fresh sheep cheese and cider syrup—will be available for purchase. Call 586-2059 for more info.
