Park Protest

Hello New Haven,

On Wednesday the 14th, Mt. Abe will be doing a school walkout to commemorate the 17 lives lost at Stoneman Douglas High in Florida with 17 minutes of silence and activities such as Acapella singing Amazing Grace, Poetry Out Loud composing a poem and artwork that can be made by students. This is an all school, admin approved walkout that will be a memorial. Following this, at about 10:40-11:00, there will be a non-admin approved march to the Bristol park as a protest against gun violence. There will be educational booths, voting registration by Sally Ober, petitions, music, guest speakers and more. This will last till about 1:00, when students will walk back to school. All students attending this will have an unexcused absence and will not be allowed to partake in after school activities. Middle School students will need to have their parents call them out of school. The march to the park is open to all communities and we want as many people possible to come and share their voice to say #neveragain. If you have any questions, you can email me at 20lyonc@anesu.org. Hope to see you there!
