NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Writers Series hosts acclaimed memoirist, Jaed Coffin, author of A Chant to Sooth Wild Elephants and author of the forthcoming book, Roughhouse Friday. Coffin will read on Monday, February 10th, at 4:30 p.m. in the Milano Ballroom.
Coffin’s first memoir, A Chant to Sooth Wild Elephants, chronicles his move as a twenty-one year old, half-Thai America from Middlebury College to his mother’s native village in Thailand where he hopes to be ordained as a Buddhist monk. His forthcoming memoir, Roughhouse Friday, is a memoir about Coffin’s time as a barroom boxer in Juneau, Alaska. There, he won the middleweight title.

This event is presented by the College of Liberal Arts and the Department of English & Communications. All events in this series are free and open to the public. Coffin’s beautiful memoir, A Chant to Sooth Wild Elephants, will be on sale at the event. A book signing will follow the reading.
