The Many Meanings of Maple- Wednesday, March 21 at 7pm

Platt Memorial Library in Shoreham is pleased to host Dr. Michael Lange of Champlain College presenting his talk about his five years of research throughout the state of Vermont on sugaring. Dr. Lange discusses sugaring ethnographically, presenting what he's learned from maple sugar producers about what sugaring really means to Vermont, why maple has become so important to Vermont's identity, and how it helps us shape who we are as Vermonters. Light refreshments will be served.

This program is presented thanks to the Vermont Humanities Council, The Shoreham Historical Society, and the Friends of the Platt, Inc. It is part of the Orwell and Shoreham Libraries Keynote Speakers Series for 2018.
