Place-Based Education Workshop for K - 6 Teachers
Saturday, March 10, 9am - 3pm, at North Branch Nature Center, 713 Elm Street
Please dress to spend time outdoors
Fee: $85; pre-registration required

Antioch University professor David Sobel and Guilford public school teacher Jen Kramer will share their research and stories about the benefits to children of time spent outdoors, as well as inspirational stories from classrooms from across the country.
Learn how to:
- Help students connect with local natural and cultural resources
- Develop good practices based on other Vermont elementary schools
- Weave a place-based education model into your science, math and literacy curriculum

David Sobel is a national leader in the field of place-based education and child development. Senior Faculty in the Education Department at Antioch University New England (Keene, NH), he has written eight books and more than 70 articles.
Jennifer Kramer teaches social studies at the Guilford (VT) Central School. She specializes in creating real-world, place-based education projects to engage students in learning about and contributing to their community’s history, economics, politics and cultural traditions.
