Information Meeting on Mill River Bond Issue

Past event

Mill River District is proposing a $3.5 million bond issue for repair and maintenance of school buildings. There will be an informational meeting, with the opportunity to ask questions, at the Mill River School District Conference Room Wednesday Night, February 28, at 6 PM. The School Board will Meet in the Mill River School Library at 7 PM. The major items to be paid for with the bond are roof replacements in Mill River High School and Clarendon Elementary School, accounting for an estimated 2.8 million, about 2/3 of the total. Replacement boilers for Mill River, Wallingford, and Tinmouth make up another $232,000. The balance includes drainage, siding, and electrical upgrades. As a member of the School Board Buildings and Grounds Committee I have had "backstage" tours of all five buildings. The complex structural, mechanical, and electrical systems that keep these buildings operating are quite amazing. Aging systems require repair and replacement so our students can study in buildings that operate without drama.
