There are many of us who support a conscientious redesign of CHP as the current design does not suit the needs of the community in 2018 for actual GREEN SPACE to enjoy. We understand the emotional feelings about the trees, as do the designers and arborists - unfortunately, the current number of trees and density of the canopy precludes the growing of grasses, thereby leaving the ground a muddy brown mess or a dry brown mess. There is nothing beautiful, functional or enjoyable about it. The new design takes into account a scientific and aesthetic approach to accommodating issues of today - proper drainage, a fountain with recycling water and sustainability of the park as an urban oasis for the future. The designers and arborist are seasoned professionals who know and understand the science behind the park as well as the aesthetics. I urge people in support to attend the next DRB meeting. This has been going on for 6 years.
