This aids parents and caregivers of children, in grades four through eight, to learn skills as their kids enter middle school and high school--crucial transition times when communication is key and messages about alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs is consistent.

The course is free and will cover how to set clear guidelines with both positive and negative consequences; how to control and express anger constructively; understanding the teenage brain; promoting family bonds; and preparing kids to respond to peer influence and learn skills to refuse drug use. Kids come to class on Week 3.

Space is limited, Pre-registration is required, Child care is available with reservations. Free and open to the public. Contact Ann Gilbert at 223-4949 or email info@cvndc.org to sign up.

This course is sponsored by Central Vermont New Directions Coalition in partnership with Washington South Supervisory Union, and the Vermont Department of Health Regional Prevention Partnerships grant to encourage healthy behavior and prevent substance use and abuse in Washington County. www.cvndc.org
