Hello:
This is the final reminder of the Climate Change Gathering on this Thursday, February 22nd, 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Twinfield School. This gathering is for Marshfield and Plainfield residents and interested people from surrounding towns. Please join your neighbors for an important discussion. You will have the opportunity to discuss, learn, provide your opinions and help develop some actions residents and towns can take to reduce their carbon footprint. We would like to have more than just firm believers at the event. We would like those that believe ,or not, or are on the fence. Respect will be shown for all views.
People have expressed concern that we have had many events to educate people in the subject; but after several of these events, people do not want to talk more, but rather take action. This is a primary reason for this session. I believe we will identify many actions that can be taken by residents (such as finishing weatherization of homes) and by the town and school
Let's not delay further in doing all we can.to address climate change. Ninety seven percent of climate scientists say that climate change is real and caused by man. We are clearly seeing the evidence of climate change in the rising air and sea temperatures, ice melting, extreme weather events, permafrost melting, sea levels rising. Scientific projections are that we will be making the planet undesirable and maybe worse for all out future generations. In the big picture; climate change is perhaps our biggest threat We are leaving our future generations a less desirable place than we inherited. The feds obviously will not lead on this; we need to lead. Now is the time to act.
