2018 Think Spring Puppets and Plants

Past event
Mar 17, 2018, 11 AM to 1:30 PM

The Hyde Park Community Circle has the perfect answer to cabin fever! Our annual Spring event is less than a month away, set your calendars for Saturday March 17th. Note the location is different this year because our HP Elementary school gymnasium isn't available. The new location is going to be the Green Mountain Technology and Career Center (GMTCC) in the Community Education Building on the right hand side of the Lamoille Union High and Middle School. What an excellent opportunity for our GMTCC Culinary Arts Department to join us, preparing something delicious for lunch, gaining experience for their aspiring chefs. We're looking forward to what Chef and his students have planned.

Lunch will be after the puppet show around noon.

Our puppet show this year will be "Jack and the Beanstalk" performed by the No Strings Marionette Company from Randolph Vermont. Puppeteers Dan Baginski and Barbara Paulson have toured America together for over sixteen years. Their traveling stage transforms any space into an intimate theater, where the seamless blend of movement, music and masterful manipulation captivates young and old alike. Shows begin with an interactive song featuring audience members, and finish with demonstrations sparked by the audiences' curious questions. Be there by 11:00 to be ready for the adventure!

Being the 2018 Think Spring is on St Paddy's Day, we'll have cool crafts to make and take home, with shamrocks and other traditional St Patrick's day crafts. There may be a leprechaun if we can catch one! Wearing of the green is optional, of course, and all in good fun.

Our resident Master Gardner Dan Young has started our seedlings! He's got sunflowers, zinnias, portulaca, & marigolds started and up about an inch or so already . We'll have a potting station setup with seedlings, empty pots, garden tools and potting soil to repot flowers to take home at the end of the event. Get ready to dig in the soil, another sure cure for cabin fever. We'll be there to help and offer tips for growing your new seedlings. There's also a nice slideshow setup on a table nearby to see plants grown in Hyde Park. What a beautiful presentation it is, reminding us of Spring and Summer.

This free event is geared for all ages, presented by your Hyde Park Community Circle. Our mission is to work creatively within our community, helping to bring neighbors and friends together for fun events. It's working! Come out to this event and see what I mean!

Reminder: Save the date March 17th, new location at GMTCC, showtime at 11:15, lunch on us! Enjoy!!
