Throughout history inns and taverns have been at the center of local life. Known for food, drink and sometimes lodging, inns have a reputation in early American and Vermont history as community centers. Often located along major roads, they have also become historic markers in our changing attitudes toward travel. This presentation by Bill Budde, curator of the Russell Vermontiana Collection, will highlight the role of inns and taverns in New England before taking a closer look at some of the local inns in Arlington, Sandgate and Sunderland. This free program takes place in the Martha Canfield Library meeting room on Sunday, February 25 at 2:00. Please call the library for more information at 802-375-6153.
