DESCRIPTION:
After an emergency call about a loved one experiencing a medical crisis, what commonly follows is a trip to the hospital. While at the hospital, you may interact with over 20 new people. For both the patient and family, being in a hospital can be confusing, frightening, overwhelming. Coping with the special world of a hospital, providing good information for professionals and supporting your loved one can be quite challenging. We hope to give you answers that will help.
We are pleased to have Elisabeth Burghardt of Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center discuss:
· Who are the professionals I will see ?
· How do I get my questions answered?
· What are the first 48-hours at the hospital like?
· What resources are typically available at a hospital to help the patient and the family?
The second half of the workshop will be dedicated to the discussion of advance directives and helping people fill out their advance directives. Forms for Vermont and New Hampshire will be provided.
