The MLK Jr. Social Justice Film Series is presenting “Hidden Figures” this coming Saturday night at 6:30 pm at the Helen Day Art Center in Stowe. Free and open to the public. This is an excellent historical film nominated for three Oscars in 2017: Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress, Best Writing Adapted Screenplay. “'Hidden Figures' is the amazing untold story of Katherine G. Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan, and Mary Jackson — brilliant African-American women mathematicians working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation's confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanized the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.” (Rotten Tomatoes website).
