Our speaker will be Megan Humphrey, founder of HANDS, a small non-profit originally organized to provide food to older adults (50 years or older) in Vermont. HANDS offers a meal and giftbags for about 400 folks on Christmas Day throughout Chittenden County; they develop “HANDS in the Dirt” gardening programs in partnership with Vermont Community Garden Network at senior housing, long-term care nursing centers, and community garden sites so that older participants can get their hands in the dirt again and grow some of their own food; and provide “HANDS in the Kitchen” workshops with Chef Robin that covers such topics as cooking for one, shopping on a budget, eating healthy foods, and so much more.
