On Sunday, February 11, Richmond Historical Society archivist Karen Yaggy will share glimpses of life in 19th-century Richmond, as seen by Betsy Squires Flagg. Flagg, a Kenyon Road farm wife, kept a diary from 1851 until her death in 1866. The program will take place at 3:00 pm in the Richmond Free Library Community Room.
Flagg used her diary to comment on local fashions and the doings of neighbors as well as to note daily activities at her family’s farm. A slide show of 19th- and early 20th-century photos from the RHS collection will accompany the readings.
The program is free and handicapped accessible. For more information about this and other RHS-sponsored events, please go to http://oldroundchurch.com/index.php/activities-and-events.
