Join the Vermont Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival on February 5th at 12 noon for our unity news conference in the Cedar Creek Room of the State House in Montpelier. Vermont will join with more than 30 states around the country and Washington DC to announce our participation in 40 days of moral action to launch the Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival this Spring.
Fifty years ago, the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called for a Poor People’s Campaign to begin a “revolution of values” in America. We are reigniting this effort to unite the poor, disenfranchised and marginalized, to transform our nation’s political, economic and moral structures of our society.
On February 5th, we will stand united with folks across the country at state capitols and in Washington, DC highlighting the human impact of policies that promote systemic racism, poverty, the war economy and environmental devastation.
Join us at noon on February 5th in the Cedar Creek Room of the State House in Montpelier to hear powerful speakers from Vermont - citizens directly impacted by these issues - and then, together, we will walk to deliver our message in a letter to Speaker of the House, Mitzi Johnson, and to Senate Pro Tempore, Tim Ashe.
