Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival Comes to Castleton

Thursday, February 1, 2018, 7 pm, Casella Theater

This event is part of the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival statewide tour of its 2017 Best of the Fest award winners. Two films by women directors will be screened. The event begins with its short film award-winner "An Autobiography," Mari Mantela's warm and quiet Finnish narrative comedy about a take-charge woman on the brink of retirement, who knows a lot about the inner workings of cars but very little about herself. "An Autobiography" won the Audience Award - Best Short at MNFF. Following the short film is the feature-length showing of Alexandra Dean's acclaimed documentary "Bombshell: The Hedy Lamarr Story," that tells the story of a Hollywood star who secretly devised groundbreaking WWII technologies that contributed to later development of cell phones and WiFi. "Bombshell" was the recipient of the Audience Award - Best Feature at the 2017 Festival. The night concludes with a Q&A with host Jay Craven, Artistic Director of the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival.

Tickets for this performance are $10 for adults, and $7 seniors, and are available at the Fine Arts Center Box Office.
