This Winter Term at Middlebury College, an interdisciplinary team of 12 students have worked to design a Zero Energy elementary school in Middlebury. The student-led class, Zero Energy School Design, will be entering their design in the Department of Energy’s Race to Zero student design competition. In this presentation, students from the class will present their initial designs, including floor plans, renderings, and programmatic ideas. The class will also discuss how the building ties into the community and highlight the importance of Zero Energy as a design goal. We hope that this work will provide inspiration and guidance should the need arise to replace Mary Hogan Elementary School. We will end the presentation with a question and answer session.
