Preparing Painted Paper for Collage
White Meeting House, 8 North Main Street, Waterbury
February 11, 2018
3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
In conjunction with “Abstracting Nature,” an exhibition of abstract works inspired by natural systems and ecological processes by Waterbury Center artist Matt Larson, White Meeting House is hosting a hands-on workshop illustrating his process and exploring techniques used to apply water-based paints and inks to paper in preparation for collage. In addition to experimenting with these materials, participants will investigate collage composition using a variety of papers prepared prior to the workshop. All materials provided (donations to help cover costs welcome), but participants should feel free to bring papers, brushes, cutting tools, and water-based paints, inks, and markers they would like to incorporate into their work. Children welcome with adult accompaniment. Please wear clothing suitable for occasionally messy processes. Space limited; please register via email by February 7.
White Meeting House art shows are free, and open to the public Tuesdays through Fridays, from 8:30AM to 12:30PM. Additional hours are also available by request (please call 244-6636). Opening Reception February 11, 1-2:30 p.m.
On Sunday, February 11th, the White Meeting House will host a free, opening celebration from 1 to 2:30PM. Light refreshments will be served and the artist will be available to answer questions and inspire visitors.
