Hello Coffee House Friends,
Please join us Saturday February 3rd for a concert with Pepper and Sassafras!
Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, grand prize winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, teams up with multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Wendy Sassafras Ramsay in this dynamic Americana duo.
Rodgers, also the founding editor of Acoustic Guitar magazine, delivers masterful band-in-a-box guitar work while Ramsay, harmonizer extraordinaire, adds flute, clarinet, guitar, accordion, and her quirky originals to the mix.
Based in upstate New York, the two musicians collaborated on Rodgers’ latest album, Almost There, and performed with the full JPR Band in the Emerging Artist Showcase at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. Now known as Pepper and Sassafras, the duo has quickly made a mark on the folk/roots scene. In 2016, they were selected as Best Duo finalist at FreshGrass and the New Voices winner at the Turtle Hill Folk Festival.
Jeffrey and Wendy meander comfortably from laugh-out-loud funny to beautiful love songs and rousing sing-alongs…all performed with great musicianship and goose-bump harmony.

“It’s the blend. It’s the instruments. It’s the ideas. It’s the creativity. It’s the authority. It’s the flair. It’s the flirting. It’s the fast fingers. It’s the laughing. It’s the words. It’s the rock. It’s the folk. It’s the wit. It’s hard to put your finger on just what you like best about Rodgers and Ramsay.”—Nancy Emrich, LilFest
There is also a guitar workshop being offered by Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers Sunday Feb. 4th from 1-2:30 at Otter Creek Yoga.
Bring the music of the Grateful Dead to life on your guitar in this workshop based on the best-selling Homespun video series Learn Seven Classic Grateful Dead Songs for Acoustic Guitar. Jeffrey shows you not only how to play the chords and create powerful grooves behind your singing on songs like “Uncle John’s Band,” “Friend of the Devil,” “New Speedway Boogie,” and “Althea,” but also how to add cool embellishments and lead breaks inspired by the Dead’s live and studio performances. The specific songs covered in the workshop will depend on the group’s interests. Listen to songs and watch video samples at:

“Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers sure can play the music—listen to his ‘Stella Blue’ and you'll know what I mean. Better still, he can teach it.”—Dennis McNally, author, A Long Strange Trip: The Inside History of the Grateful Dead
