An Economy for All of Us - Tuesday

Past event
Jan 30, 2018, 7 to 8:30 PM

On January 30th at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian Church Vestry in Montpelier, please join us for a workshop and discussion about how to build an economy that works for everyone, not just the billionaire class. The workshop will feature Gwendolyn Hallsmith, author of several books about sustainable economics (see links below), Rickey Gard Diamond, author of the upcoming book Screwnomics: How the Economy Works Against Women and Real Ways to Make Lasting Change, and Henry Jacqz, Lead Coordinator of Vermonters for a New Economy.

Inspired by Martin Luther King’s Poor People’s Campaign, the panel will explore the economic systems and structures that continue to transfer real wealth from low income people to the rich. Real world, successful examples of communities, nations, and individuals who have transformed these systems for the benefit of everyone will also be discussed. A special guest, beaming in from Washington, DC, will be Edgar Cahn and Chris Grey, founders of Time Banks.

A livestream of the workshop is available for people who cannot attend. The livestream can be viewed during and after the workshop by clicking this link:

The workshop is free and open to the public. The Unitarian Church is accessible for people with limited mobility – a ramp for wheelchairs is at the entrance on of School Street in Montpelier.
