I saw Natalia at NERFA this fall as part of an international music trade show presentation. I thought she was great. Super solid playing and singing, her music and wit was engaging and at times evocative to provocative, but always with a solid groove. I reached out and let her know we would love to host her someday, perhaps May... and she suddenly had an opening between a gig in Syracuse and Connecticut, this Saturday (tomorrow!) January 11th, so I booked her into the Turn of the Tide music series held monthly at my studio. Cool! Then, I started to learn a bit about who she is, all the different prestigious collaborations she is involved in (musically and in the art world) saw that she is releasing her seventh album in a few weeks… I am sure this is going to be a great evening. We still have some room (we cut off at about 40 folks) please join us! This Saturday night. January 11th, 6 PM Potluck 7:30 – 9:30 show. $20 suggested donation. Turn of the Tide Music Series, Jim Gilmour - jim@southviewarts.com or 235-2766 for rsvp and directions.
Natalia Zukerman is nothing if not versatile. In addition to performing her own shows of original music, over the years Zukerman has played lap steel, bass and/or guitar alongside Janis Ian, Susan Werner and Willy Porter, toured collaboratively with fellow artists Garrison Starr, Louise Taylor, Erin McKeown, Sam Baker and John Fullbright, with her art.is.song art and music project comrade AG(Adrianne Gonzlez), with percussionist and vocalist Mona Tavakoli (Jason Mraz, Raining Jane) and with her annual holiday group Winterbloom (Antje Duvekot, Anne Heaton, Meg Hutchinson). Her collaborative nature was captured on her critically acclaimed double live album Gypsies & Clowns that was recorded in Evaston, IL in September of 2012. She is currently at work on her seventh solo record, to be released in 2014 on Weasel Records.
