When: Mon, Jan 22, 6 - 8 PM

Marshfield is hosting a Public Visioning Workshop and Open House to collect public input on the future use of The Virginia Stranahan Memorial Town Forest (STF). Marshfield is one of 10 communities in Vermont to receive a grant from The Vermont Urban & Community Forestry Program. This grant assists Vermont communities in addressing issues and opportunities on the use and stewardship of their town forests.

The town invites the public to share thoughts and ideas as the process kicks off to help explore the range of uses you’d like to see in our town forest and to develop an action-based town forest management plan. We are seeking input from users, would be users and interested persons. Your input will help shape the future of the forest. The workshop will be an open house format, so drop in any time! Hope to see you there! Light refreshments will be provided.

1) The (STF) is a conserved 620 acre parcel in the Town of Marshfield. It is a beautiful forest with significant ecological, historical, educational, recreational, agricultural and wildlife resources.

2) The forest is managed by the town in accord with a Management Plan (MP) and an Easement associated with the conservation of the parcel. The MP outlines the acceptable uses and practices for the STF.

3) The current plan is outdated and needs updating. One of the areas of particular interest is in balancing uses related to recreational activities

Please come out and help us guide the future of this gem of a forest
