How do Americans take care of the daily necessity of making meals? How has making these meals changed over the past century? In this talk, Amy Trubek will describe her ethnographic research on cooking, which included videotaping people making dinner in their homes, as well as her historical analysis of cookbooks and other sources. She is “hopeful about cooking,” as her research shows the process to be rich, various, complex, and creative.
