The Meanings of Maple - Historical Society Program

Past event
Jan 24, 2018, 7 to 8:30 PM

The Vermont Identity is connected to several key symbols, one of which is "maple." What does maple mean to us as Vermonters? The Waterbury Historical Society is pleased to host Dr. Mike Lange for his presentation on "The Meaning of Maple" at the next program meeting, January 24, at 7p.m. in the Municipal Building's Steele Community Room, 28 North Main Street. Dr. Lange is a professor of anthropology and folklore at Champlain College, specializing in cultural identity. His presentation draws on his most recent book, Meanings of Maple (University of Arkansas Press, 2017), and his many interviews with Vermont sugar makers.

This program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. Copies of Dr. Lange’s book will also be available for sale.
