All over the country, this Saturday, there will be Women's March Anniversary events. Here at home, the Vermont Women's March is supporting and partnering with the March for Our Future - a youth-lead and youth-centered event.
Saturday, January 20, 1:00
March from City Hall to the Statehouse for a rally and speak out.
The youth-only line up of speakers and performers include A2VT, Muslim Girls Making Change, and young people from Rutland, Brattleboro, Montpelier, Burlington, Richmond, and more.
Here is a message from Kiran Waqar, a SBHS student, march organizer, and member of Muslim Girls Making Change: "Youth are aware of what’s happening, but often lack an outlet and political efficacy to believe they can make a difference in their community or government. It’s time to abolish the notion that a person needs to have a college degree or be above the age of 30 to have an effect.”
The Peace & Justice Center has been supporting the organizing of this event and it has been so fun and rewarding to work with this planning committee. It's supposed to be 41 degrees and partially sunny on Saturday! Wahoooo! Hope to see you there.
