Universal Primary Health Care for All Vermonters

Vermont Senate and House Committees on Health Care will hold a joint hearing on Tuesday, January 23rd in the well of the House Chamber at the VT State House from 5:30 to 8:00PM to take public testimony and hear from Vermonters about our desire for a far superior health care system. Two bills, S.53 and H.248, practically identical, were introduced last session and can be viewed on the legislative web site. Although supported by most single payer advocates, these bills would direct our legislators to set up a public option for primary care ONLY, to be paid for by taxes rather than insurance.. This would include mental health and substance abuse services as well, while leaving specialized services and hospitalization coverage to be paid for by the current health care insurance structure. It would cover most of the care, for most of the people, most of the time and would cover everyone, cradle to grave, providing adequate preventive care.

Attend this hearing to learn more and if you have a personal story, come at 5 PM to sign up to give your testimony.
