Statehouse Hearing on Universal Primary Care

Past event
Jan 23, 2018, 5:30 to 8 PM

Support Universal Primary Care! The Senate Health and Welfare Committee and House Health Care Committee will take testimony at the Statehouse in Montpelier on access to primary care.

Vermont legislative bills H248 and S53 would make primary care, including outpatient mental health and substance abuse, a public good for every Vermonter, independent of age, private insurance employment or income with no out of pocket costs. Providing primary care would be relatively inexpensive (under 6% of what Vermonters are currently spending on healthcare), while at the same time would reduce the need for expensive hospitalizations and emergency room visits by treating conditions earlier and preventing disease.

Want to show your support? Mark your calendars!

Please come and show support that day for S53 and H248, the Universal Primary Care bills whether you are plan to testify or not! A large attendance will show the legislators that there is public interest in these bills. If you have a story to tell about why access to primary care without out of pocket costs is important to you, consider testifying!

[NOTE: Sign-up for testifying will begin at 5 pm.]
