Houghtonanny at the Music Box Feb. 3

Past event
Feb 3, 2018, 6 to 9 PM

The Music Box hosts a potluck and Houghtonanny on Sat. Feb. 3 at 6 PM.

Call it a sing-along, or a song circle, or a Hootenanny, or even a Houghtonanny - they're all the same. Why a Houghtonanny? It will be led by Don Houghton! The idea is for folks who enjoy singing in a group, accompanied by acoustic instruments, to come together, sit in a circle, and share ideas for songs that the whole group would enjoy singing together. Pete Seeger, of course, says it best: "singing together gives people some kind of a holy feeling...You feel like, ‘Gee, we’re all together."

We've got a good number of Rise Up Singing songbooks to pass out; but if you've got a copy of your own, bring it along. And it you'd like to bring your guitar, banjo, bass fiddle or any other instrument to the event, it'll be welcome.

This will be a potluck, so bring something to share! There will be coffee, tea, cider, cookies, cheese and crackers! For more information call the Music Box at 802-586-7533.
