I’m incredibly thrilled to be hosting a house concert for my own harp teacher, Dominique Dodge, and her friend, the fiddler and singer Emerald Rae!

Many of you are lucky enough to already be familiar with Dominique’s fine work as both a harper and a singer.  Emerald will be visiting from Boston, where she has appeared at venues such as The Burren Backroom, and is working on an exciting new project of songs she has written.

Bios:
Boston-based Fiddler & Folksinger Emerald Rae creates a groove-heavy sound reminiscent of old country blended with the intricacy of Celtic fiddle and rocked-up droning accompaniment. Complimented by sultry vocals and introspective lyrics that mirror old folktales, Emerald Rae brings the fiddling-singing combo to a whole new plateau. Her intriguingly quirky songwriting is steeped in the echos of traditional music, sewn together with imaginative arranging that will pique your curiosity.  The Boston Globe says “her fiddling is spot-on yet elegantly earthy.”

Harper and singer Dominique Dodge, a native of the New Hampshire’s White Mountains, is deeply grounded in the music and song traditions of Ireland and Scotland where she has studied extensively. She has a passion for melody-driven dance music and creative, rhythmic accompaniment as well as for songs, airs, and 18th century harp music. In recent years she has spent time living in Cape Breton immersing herself in the music and gaelic language and culture there.  She is an active and talented teacher, including being involved with Young Traditions Vermont touring group and Fiddleheads.
